Graf Dawn Redwood
2012
I received a phone call from Raymond Graf, Louisville sculptor, inquiring about my tree climbing services. He has a Dawn Redwood tree on his property he believed to be one of the tallest in the country. Raymond invited me to climb it and drop a line to measure it's height and I gladly agreed.
I went up as high as I could, and was shy of the very top by about 6 feet. I dropped the line, tied a knot to mark the height and climbed back down. We measured the line at 90 feet or 27.4 meters. When submitted to the tree registry, it proved to be the second tallest in the United States.
