Ramblings of a Quadrupedal Biped
Walking and climbing Lake LaSalle
This smartphone application chronicles twelve tree climbs around Lake LaSalle on the north campus of the university.
To experience this piece, the participant must download the app and project onto their phone, then use headphones to listen to sound recordings as they walk around the edge of the lake.
In zones between the twelve trees are recordings of stories about how and why I climb trees, related anecdotes about my climbing philosophy, past experiences, and other information all of which combine to build a narrative revealing my interest in tree climbing.
In the zones near the trees were recordings I made while climbing those specific trees and reading a passage from a book while sitting in the treetops and responding to the passage.
